Lincoln City Women beat Solihull Moors at home in their second victory of the week.
The manager, Lee Mitchell made four changes to the starting line up from the 5-2 win against Doncaster Belles. Amy Halloran, Amy Kay, Daisy Marsh and Leah Hardy were unavailable. Lana Timson, Katie Williams, Betsy Thomas and Toni McHamilton all returned to the squad, with Lauryn Wilcock moving to a move defensive role than Wednesday night.
A very competitive game, play was end to end for the entire 90 minutes. Merely one goal separated the two teams in a high-tempo match.
Solihull Moors were strong in the opening minutes. While play was largely in the centre third of the pitch, they managed a few shots on goal, but none on target.
In the 6th minute, there was a scramble in the goalmouth, with Timson faced with several of Moors' forwards but making a goalline block, keeping the scoreline level.
Plenty of attempts from both sides followed, with Amy Blinkhorn, Alivia Chambers and Jeorgia Carr sending the ball wide. Sophie Crosby sent a powerful free kick goalwards but the Moors' keeper easily saved.
In the 37th minute, Crosby stepped up to take a corner and in classic Crosby fashion, it sailed over the heads of everyone and went straight into the far side of the net.
Just two minutes later, Wilcock moved the length of the pitch, and got herself into the the box. She chipped the ball in past the keeper and double the Imps' lead.
Half time 2-0.
The visitors pushed hard in the second half but repeatedly found themselves offside. Their attempts finally paid off in the 65th minute where Timson came out to block the ball. Substitute, Charlotte Leedham managed to chip the ball over the keeper and trickle it into the back of the net.
The Imps made several substitutions to see the game out, with Mya Webb making her First Team debut for the final 10 minutes.
Full time 2-1.
