Report: Sporting Khalsa 1 Imps 2

Lincoln City got the season off to a strong start with a 2-1 win away at Sporting Khalsa.

The match started with the Imps on the back foot but they came from behind thanks to Jess Rousseau and Leah Hardy.

In just the fifth minute of the game, Khalsa took the lead through a short-range goal.

The first half was lacklustre from the Imps with the hosts outplaying them in terms of possession. Most of the play was in the centre third, with both teams having the occasional shot off target.

Half time 1-0.

The second half was a lot stronger. Lincoln’s fitness levels meant that the second half was a lot stronger. There were numerous attempts on goal in the opening minutes of the half.

On the hour mark, a corner from Sophie Crosby made its way into the box, after a fumble, it found Jess Rousseau’s feet and she chipped in.

The Imps continued to be an attacking threat but Khalsa broke through on goal several times. They sent the ball just wide several times and also forced some saves from Amy Halloran in goal.

In the 78th minute, Toni McHamilton, newly on as a substitute, sent the ball forward for Leah Hardy, who gave the Imps the lead.

More relaxed in the final 10 minutes, Lincoln saw the game out and picked up three points to start the season.

Full time 1-2
