Lincoln City Women face Stoke City this Sunday in the first round of the FAWNL League Cup.
The game will be the first the Imps have played at their new home of Ashby Avenue since the end of preseason.
Stoke are a league ahead of Lincoln, ranking 7th in the Northern Premier Division - the third tier - last season.
Recent form
Last week, Stoke beat Sheffield FC 3-0 at home. The Imps beat Sheffield 4-3 in preseason, thanks to four goals from last season’s top goalscorer, Abbie Murrell.
In their preseason friendlies, Stoke lost two games, drew two and won one, including a 1-1 draw with Wolves, the Imps’ opponents last week.
Lincoln had a successful preseason, losing just one game, winning four and drawing one. The six games involved eight different goalscorers, including four new signings, and an impressive eight goals in five appearances for Murrell.
Who to watch
Stoke have just signed Alison Hall - who scored on her debut last week. Hall was released from Aston Villa earlier this summer, having spent just one season at the Championship side but making 28 appearances.
They have also brought back Abby Hunt after she left three years ago to study at a university in Canada. In that time she played for her university team in Ontario, Windsor Lancers. In her first year with the team, she was named Most Valued Player, having played 14 games, scoring seven goals, and making 47 assists.
The match will take place on Sunday 25th, 2pm at Ashby Avenue.
