Lincoln City Women host Burton Albion in the WNL Midlands One. Due to Albion's waterlogged pitch, a last minute change the West Midlands side travel to Lincolnshire instead of the return fixture.
Recent Form
Lincoln go into the tie after a strong 3-1 win over Solihull Moors in the FA Cup first round last weekend. Goals from Amy Blinkhorn and Toni McHamilton (x2) secured a place in the second round and set up an away tie against West Bromwich Albion.
The Imps sit fifth in the league with three wins and one draw from their opening six games.
Burton return to action after a 4-2 loss away at Bedworth United last time out. Having won just one game out of six this season, The Brewers are second bottom and face relegation as they hold just three points in the league standings. They have only beat bottom of the league, Leafield Athletic.
Albion also have the worst goal difference in the division going into this weekend’s fixtures with minus 31.
Head to Head
Lincoln and Burton last met just two months ago for the second qualifying round of the FA Cup. The Imps came away with an outstanding 10-1 win at home.
The two sides didn't come up against each other in the 2019-20 season due to its premature end. However, as Nettleham in the 2018-19 season, the team beat Burton Albion 3-0 and 3-2 at home and away respectively.
Who to watch
Goalkeeper Amy Halloran and her defensive line will be hoping to secure a third clean sheet of the season after conceding one in the Brewers' last trip to Lincolnshire.
The visitors have failed to score in three out of the six league games so far. Ellie Ritchie and Millie Drinkwall were lively in their loss in the previous game, each bagging good goals to lift the team.
